Building Materials

Dear Parents,

Our classes will be building our prototypes as we continue to explore the question "How can we as environmentalists design a simple machine prototype that helps the earth?".

We would be very appreciative if you could send any of the below items to our class:

-Cardboard boxes
-pop cans
-lids (water bottle lids, jar lids etc)
-old lego wheels that you don't need
-styrofoam
-clear plastic water bottles

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Ms. Kumar and Students of Room 4B

Math Update

Students have been continuing to review place value. They have also begun comparing numbers in the 1000s using <, >, = and have been ordering numbers from least to greatest and greatest to least.

For example:

Place a <, >, =  between the two numbers

1378     1389

2785     2785

1560     8743

Write the numbers in order from least to greatest

1399, 1350, 1321, 1387

Inquiry Update

Students have been using data within tables to create graphs. Below are students creating a bar graph from information given to them on electric cars.

We also had the opportunity to build catapults. Students used impressive collaboration skills in order to build together.
